The main building of Dunaújváros University (DUE) has been reopened following its renovation, with Delta Systems Kft. carrying out the energy efficiency upgrade as a subcontractor. The complex automation system offers significant energy savings for the university, and digitalisation solutions have also been integrated to improve the operational efficiency of the institution.
At the ceremony, Balázs Hankó, Minister of Culture and Innovation, said that Hungarian universities are becoming increasingly competitive and more and more young people are studying at the institutions; the number of students at the University of Dunaújváros has doubled in the past two years. The Minister stressed that, in addition to universities that are at the top of the international ranking, the development of regional excellence is also outstanding, as the University of Dunaújváros has become. The renovation of the buildings cost around HUF 5.7 billion.
Delta Systems Kft. carried out the building energy efficiency modernization of A DUE as a subcontractor. At the handover, István Antal, Sales Director, highlighted that the complex building automation system, via 2,690 sensors and actuators, can reduce the building's energy consumption by at least 25%. The system's unique software enables remote control of heating, air conditioning, and lighting, and also indicates whether windows are open or closed. In addition, the system integrator company installed a visitor counter at the university, and it was here that the EDUBOX was first put into operation, where students can place their mobile devices using their student IDs.
In his speech, János Süli, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation operating the university, emphasized that the renovation of the main building was a modernization that met the requirements of the 21st century in terms of energy and control technology, a renewal that the main building had never undergone before. He hopes that the building will soon be occupied, as the classrooms were lacking. He also pointed out that there are buildings on the campus that still need to be modernised and renovated in order to create a real university centre here in Dunaújváros.
Dr István András András, the Rector of the University, expressed his pride in being able to welcome the guests in such a prestigious building. He said the building was also a symbol of the future, having undergone its first major renovation. He stressed that the university is a centre for thought and innovation, but is also happy to take a leading role in education and development, and is open to its regional partners and the general public, as it is a family-friendly institution. He stressed that DUE has become a prominent player in Hungarian higher technical education over the past 25 years, with a stable and well-structured training portfolio.
