One of Hungary's largest system integrators has implemented outstanding projects in the field of digitalisation and related innovative solutions among SMEs.
Delta Systems Kft. received the Industry 4.0 professional medal this year, which was presented by Dr. Balázs Hankó, State Secretary for Innovation and Higher Education at the Ministry of Culture and Innovation, at the hybrid conference titled „Research and Innovation in the Service of Green Transition”. The professional medal for „Small or medium-sized enterprise successfully implementing Industry 4.0 digitalisation technology or realising other significant related innovative activities” was awarded to the company, owned by Delta Technologies 100%, for projects that have improved the traceability, production efficiency, and sales profitability of the supply chain of Hungarian small and medium-sized enterprises with unique digital solutions.
The third edition of the Industry 4.0 medals was awarded to SMEs and large companies that have They have achieved success in Industry 4.0 by using digital technologies and innovative solutions. In addition, awards were given to organisations implementing education, training programmes, research, development or innovation.
Delta Systems presented three projects that have implemented unique enterprise digitalisation projects in the industrial and agri-food sectors that have improved the traceability and inventory of goods, logistics planning, crop quality protection and food safety, for example, and have increased the efficiency and profitability of companies. The projects have been implemented using automation, artificial intelligence, machine vision sensors and other tools and software in customized solutions, among others.

The Industry 4.0 Professional Medal, established by the Minister for Innovation and Technology to recognise excellence in the field, was awarded for the first time in 2020 and for the second time in 2021 (in 2021 and 2022 respectively), at the initiative of the President of the Industry 4.0 National Technology Platform Association (Industry 4.0 NTPSz). A maximum of 1 medal per category per year, up to a total of 4 medals. This year, for the first time, the Ministry of Culture and Innovation (KIM), which is responsible for the field, has awarded the Industry 4.0 Professional Award.

Innovative projects for Industry 4.0 – Delta Systems Ltd.'s applied-for projects
In one of the projects presented at Uniholz Ltd., a supplier of mainly steel products and construction materials, Delta developed an easy-to-use, field-applied artificial intelligence-enabled Industry 4.0 solution in collaboration with the company. The system provides an accurate picture of the stock by automatically running an inspection and counting algorithm on a recording taken by phone, without the need for material handling. The solution, which does not change the technical and IT environment and does not require a special camera system, allows for more accurate goods receipt and thus more accurate and faster accounting and stock recording. The receipt of incoming goods and periodic inventory will be significantly accelerated and made more accurate with the use of the system. And the image data that will be generated through continuous use will also allow for the continuous refinement of algorithms, creating an Industry 4.0 solution for image inspection and inventory control that is becoming more fault-tolerant and more agile in the Uniholz environment. In the second project presented, Delta has built a special RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) based system for the in-factory tracking of semi-finished goods in a food industry environment for Nagykun-Hús Ltd., a manufacturer of pork processing and meat products. The system enables RFID gates, which are positioned to track goods handling processes, measurements and passing points, to register the passage of the product/goods with a time stamp. The time stamp also enables other tasks, such as the central linking of measurements or full automation of the weighing station. The product/goods are also registered as they pass through the plant, the cold store or are removed from storage. As well as freeing up manpower, the system is designed to minimise product, inventory and stock errors by being able to tell exactly which goods have passed through or are in which areas of the plant and what they have come into contact with, thus enabling full traceability within the plant from receipt of live pigs to product release, through accurate digitisation of processes. The delivered tracking system is linked to a self-learning subsystem that plans the optimised delivery of the final product, and filters out human error. The solution enables the company to improve food safety, meet ever-changing and growing order volumes and last-minute delivery demands with accuracy and precision, calculating optimal delivery routes and minimising the costs involved. The development fits in with the company's major technological and hygiene improvement plan, which has been committed to in recent years.
In the third project, Delta Systems Ltd. developed a special sensor detection system for Matyó Agrártermelő Zrt., which is engaged in grain and feed production, among others, and a central monitoring system for collecting sensor data in explosive environments, as well as automated the automated monitoring and forecasting of the condition of the crop in the grain silos. Sensors installed in the bins provide crop-specific indications of the volume, temperature, humidity and changes in the grain stored. In addition, the data processing algorithm allows staff to control and intervene in the process based on the data. By integrating the sensor data with the operation of several pieces of equipment in the plant, the costs associated with the operation can be calculated more accurately. One of the requirements for a solution based on the elimination of human error was the ease of upgrading, integrating new sensors and subsystems in additional silos and bins.
