A strategic cooperation agreement has been signed between one of Hungary's leading IT companies, Delta Systems Kft., and one of Europe's leading tower companies, Vantage Towers Hungary. Under the partnership, the two companies will jointly build 5G, IoT (Internet of Things), Industry 4.0, and Smart Building solutions for industrial, corporate, institutional, and educational clients, leveraging the country's second-largest mobile network infrastructure.
Last year, Vodafone Group spun out its passive base station elements, including towers, building-mounted stations and indoor antenna units, into a separate group to improve asset utilisation. Formed in November, Vantage Towers aims to provide the infrastructure needed for Europe's digital development in a sustainable way, and the power to run the equipment is also provided from 100 per cent renewable sources in a spirit of environmental responsibility. Vantage Towers Hungary has more than 2,000 base stations in Hungary, and as grid-sharing schemes become more widespread, other industry players will be able to make use of passive network elements.
It is becoming increasingly common for a factory, company, institution or university to require a private mobile network, but such infrastructure is also needed for self-driving cars or tele-operations to spread. Private 5G networks can be very beneficial for production lines, for example, as manufacturers can make faster and more flexible modifications thanks to the high performance wireless connectivity. Private networks also allow the data generated to stay within the customer's own system, allowing for greater security and even shorter response times.
The aim of the cooperation with Delta Technologies Zrt., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Budapest Stock Exchange-listed Delta Technologies Nyrt., is to build innovative, high-value-added IT solutions for market and governmental players, in addition to the aforementioned private networks, on existing infrastructure, with a particular focus on 5G, IoT, Industry 4.0, and Smart Building areas. Delta Systems Kft. is one of Hungary's leading system integrator companies, possessing strong network building and data protection competencies, as well as manufacturer relationships, which can be leveraged within the framework of this cooperation.
